Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,
To balance enrolment at the schools in the Marlborough Park community, the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) will be changing the designation boundaries for Cappy Smart School and Roland Michener School.
Effective for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond, there will be new regular program designation boundaries for the Marlborough Park community. New students registering for school from the Marlborough Park community will be designated to their schools based on where they live (see attached maps for attendance areas).
Will these changes affect current students attending Cappy Smart and Roland Michener Schools?
All students currently attending Cappy Smart School or Roland Michener School will be able to remain at their current school until they graduate from the school or move from the community.
Students who will have a younger sibling starting in their newly designated school in the 2025-2026 school year have the option to transfer to that school for the 2025-2026 school year and beyond.
How do I register for school next year?
Kindergarten registrations for the 2025-2026 school year begin in January 2025. For more information on how to register, please visit our website.
How will students get to school?
Students are eligible for transportation to their designated school if they live beyond the walk zone. Cappy Smart School and Roland Michener School may become eligible for transportation services starting in the 2025-26 school year as the shorter student travel distances required by legislation are introduced. However, transportation will only be offered for students attending their designated school. If your child is currently attending a school other than your designated school, they won't be eligible for this service next year under the new guidelines.
